It is a serious work of that genre and has everything that makes this kind of novels so very unique. It is all make-believe of course, but make-believe presented in a non-flippant manner that gives it a sense of credibility that is different from crime novels or any other kind of fiction. People who have never read fantasy-fiction may not understand this statement. People who are aficionados of that genre know exactly what I mean. There is murder, love, intrigue, mystery, suspense, magic and embedded in this mix are powerful emotions that kept me reading two evenings in a row, each time beyond midnight.
I am happy to recommend this book to readers of this genre, but also to other readers who are open-minded enough to try something different for a change. A great read!
Ah! There is one more thing: On page 2, straight after after the front cover, it says: "For my mum. This one has a dragon in it." Love it!

Enjoyed the characters and there was plenty of action. This was well thought out and had a good plot. Cannot wait for the second book. Good characters. Lots of twists and turns. Need to read first book.
Loved this book! I received it yesterday and couldn't put it down. I loved the mix of James Bond, Indiana Jones and Game of Thrones; the dragons were great, too.
The second book in the series picks up where book one left off. Quick moving plot, with lots of twists and turns. Developed the characters as we get to know Wolf Dasher a little more. Very satisfying resolution of the conflict. Leaves me wanting to read book three. I received a copy of this book in exchange for a review.
Plots. Betrayal. International intrigue. Magical gadgets, and doom's day in the waiting. Red Dragon Five has all the elements of a spy thriller and fantasy world thrown together, and mostly it's a good combination. Wolf Dasher is the James Bond of the fantasy world. Dasher occasionally makes dumb decisions that are a little hard to swallow, but the supporting cast is good, and the villains could come right out of a Bond novel. If you like action thrillers, you will enjoy this book. While it might help to read previous Wolf Dasher novels for back story, I didn't find it essential to understanding the work.
Review Red Dragon Five
So there are many many parallels between our current events and this story. Unstable governments working to gain control while religious groups and militias duke it out in the headlines. Aside from the back story of what is happening with the government and religion and politics all of this bring us to the point that our main character Wolf has to be sent on an off the books assignment deep undercover assignment by the woman he loves. Deep undercover spy, among elves no secret contacts...and he stuck with a crazy religious zealot that can control the weather and an even crazier woman that can turn into a dragon hell bent on destroying...well everyone. We not only follow Wolf through the his deep undercover operation but we also follow May Honeyflower as she stays behind to deal with the red tape. Ultimately though, the message is teamwork, because that is not how this story ends. After all, someone has to stay behind to bring in the calvary.
This is Wolf Dasher novel, but there was no difficulty reading it without not having read the previous two books. Recommended for young adults and older due to content dealing with battle, terrorism, murder, love, religion, and politics. If you can handle that and magic and elves and and really good story line, then you can read this book.

Pros A mash-up of the fantasy and spy-thriller genres, which I've never seen before; An entertaining story. Evokes situations similar to real-world events to help the reader feel immediately familiar with the setting.
Cons Traditional western fantasy elements water-down the elven culture. Some of the political elements feel under-utilized with heavy foreshadowing.
