Against the backdrop of 20 half-naked models on DD land, and in the midst of fighting the oil establishment that just won't give Riley a chance, Texas Heat is the story of one hot summer in Texas with a Gay Rodeo, humor, angst, and a love between two men that just grows stronger every day.

Jack hires Robbie, a man recovering from a great loss, to be his right hand man. Meanwhile, Riley's mischievous photographer friend, Eli, decides the DD is the perfect backdrop for a cowboy themed model shoot. Eli has secrets not even Riley knows about but despite what he is hiding he falls in lust with Robbie at first sight. Everyone except Robbie can see how perfect Eli would be for him.

What happens when secrets spill and lies are discovered? And just how far will Riley and Jack go to play matchmaker?

Texas Heat Texas Series Book 3 (Audible Audio Edition) RJ Scott Sean Crisden Love Lane Books Limited Books

I was shocked when I reached the end of this book because there were so many storylines left hanging! What is the purpose of injecting conflict into a story if there is no resolution? Why write the storyline with Austin and his past relationship with Jack and then have it fizzle out over a half-hearted bar fight. Why write the storyline about Eden and Sean and the traumatic restaurant encounter and then not provide much detail of the actual encounter (WHY did it happen? What was said?) or offer any further information about their relationship status or Sean's recovery? What happened to Eden and Sean?? And the insta-love affair between Robbie and Eli was just too incredible to find believable. Seriously. They knew each other a few days and Eli professed his love for Robbie. And with all of Robbie's conflicting emotions about getting involved with anyone again after Paul's death, he suddenly changes his mind and tells Eli he loves him, too? And they live together in a one-room apartment? ONE ROOM. NO WAY! This book just left so much hanging that I got the impression the author was tired and ran out of creative ideas. Much to the detriment of the reader's ability to have faith in future sequels.

Texas Heat Texas Series Book 3 (Audible Audio Edition) RJ Scott Sean Crisden Love Lane Books Limited Books Reviews

I have now read the entire "Texas Series" by RJ Scott and highly recommend them if you are into M2M Romance. I have read almost all of RJ Scott's books and find her writing enjoyable. In each series I find myself attached to the characters. Read one and I think you'll be hooked!
This 3rd installment in the Texas series follows the same formula as others in the series. There is a soap opera quality as the story follows the lives of Jack and Riley with new business ventures, corporate dealings, weddings, bar brawls, ex-lover jealously, fashion photo shoots.....

Texas Heat rates more highly than the 2nd book as it also includes a new relationship. Eli, a friend of Riley's, and Robbie, the new cowboy on the ranch, each have their own issues but find love.

Really nice easy reading.
awesome series with to opposites coming together under a, ill give you money if you marry me, situation....great to see how the characters develop over time and the path each one takes in life....two totally opposite people coming together to eventually find love but there are so many twists and turns through the series you wonder how they make it especially when one of them had a daughter who has now come to live with them and how they are going to raise here....great read.....
Book 3 - I keep falling in love more with Jack and Riley ... This book brings two more characters in the face of Elijah and Robbie. Eli is Riley's friend of his college years and Robbie is Jack's new employee who He had met and his mom's wedding. Eli is funny and direct ... He wants Robbie since the first time they saw each other. Robbie's past has tragedy , hence He is apprehensive to love again. They are good for each other and they start exploring the friendship and feelings. I like the way the relationship progresses. Jack and Riley continue to be strong as a couple, protective of the family but more of their love.
Ultimately I really enjoyed the story overall although I am not a fan of Eli. He doesn't seem to fit in the location. Although Riley was a "city" and cultured boy he was very much a Texas southern man. Eli just doesn't seem to fit the mold. If he sticks around in future stories maybe my opinion will change but at the moment he is the weak link for me.
Great series! I have enjoyed this series of books more than any other gay romance series that I have read. I really suggest reading them in order as it makes the storyline flow much better. That Said, each off them can be read as a stand alone novel. There is consistent character development, people come and people go. There is a sense of reality in the storyline and I feel it has a believable plot(s). I have been reading these gay novels for 18 months now (ever since I got my kindle and a guy on a cruise I was on told me about this genre for books - who knew?) and as I said at the beginning of this review, this series of books is my favorite. I devour one or two books a week.
The Heart of Texas was the first book of the series and set a very high standard, the second book was a minor disappointment, but this book measured up the the standards of the first book. I loved the continuation of Jack and Riley and being kept up to date on the rest of the family.

Ms Scott's writing sets a high standard for other writers to meet. She writes great stories with great sex and integrates them well. While you're reading, it's the story that fills your mind and when you're finished, it's the sex you remember for a while. After that, when you've shelved it for a while and think back, the story is back to the front of your mind. To me, that's the best kind of book.
